The Chop
The Chop
I ride into the chop.
Feel my stomach turn.
Despite my discomfort,
I can't abandon the water.
Have to stay afloat
until the calm returns.

Getting Started
Getting Started
Why am I
afraid to start?
Frozen in place,
unable to take action.
Why can't I get
a lift from a
new endeavor?
Accept that I may
not land where
I planned, but
where I am
supposed to be.
Remember, I may
always start again.

Look to the Light
Look to the Light
When the light
seems blocked,
it finds a way
to come through.
Shows us
an opening and
gives us a glimpse
of what lies on
the other side
of the darkness.

Erosion
Erosion
The rocks under
the pier look
solid, heavy,
indestructible.
How much
of
the sand
they
sit in
was
part of
a
similar rock?

Through the Storm
Through the Storm
I have been
through the storm.
I picked up
some debris
and lost some
parts of me.
I have been
tossed around,
but still, I
will go on.

Hold Still
Hold Still
The heron stands
at the water's edge
and does not move.
This creature
is not startled
into action
by the swaying
of a branch,
the swimming
of a duck,
the running
of a child, or
the clicking
of a camera.
It holds on to
its stillness
as the world
swirls around.

Retreat
Retreat
The turtle sits on the stone.
It wants some time on its own.
Retreats into a chill zone.
Recalls places it has known,
the wonders it has been shown.
A goose calls in a harsh tone.
The turtle starts at the sound.
Geese abound, the mood is blown.
The form of this poem is a
Cyrch A Chwta
.

Stars
Stars
These stars are
found near the ground.
They are the color
of the sun and
dance to the rhythm
of the wind
in the center
of a flower.
They shine
on their own,
not dependent
on the darkness.

The Road
The Road
The road has been
narrow, wide,
curved, straight,
uphill, downhill,
slippery, dry,
bumpy, smooth,
congested, clear
and brought me here.
