Wait for the Warm Air

Wait for the Warm Air

Where there once was water,
there is now ice.
The lake is cold and hard.
Geese are denied
the chance to swim, but
gather here anyway.
Instinct tells them to
wait for the warm air, and
the water will flow again.

Make Your Own Music

Make Your Own Music

Maybe you will sing songs.
Maybe you will play guitar.

Maybe you will use a whistle.
Maybe you will make meals sizzle.

Maybe you will hammer nails.
Maybe you will make cars hum.

 Whatever you decide to do,
 make your own music.

Flying Home

Flying Home

The geese appear overhead--the lake is frozen
Honks sound in celebration--the open space calls
Feet come down like landing gear--the surface glimmers
They touch the icy runway--the ice holds its own

This poem is an Imayo.

Short Stories

Short Stories

Sand, sage storyteller,
shares short stories.
Steps saved steadfastly
show several species
stop, stand, start.
Surging surf supplies
swift summations.

Robert Lee Brewer has started a new feature on his Poet Asides blog--Form Fridays. This poem is a tautogram.
