Clouds

Clouds

I look to the sky.
The clouds catch my eye.
Beauty from on high
displayed today.

White against the blue
forming shapes anew.
I enjoy the view
then walk away.

This is a Welsh form called cyhydedd hir.

Tourist Season

Tourist Season

I never know which ones will
visit when tourist season begins.
Will there be a single skipper
or a majestic monarch?
They usually stay one day.
The gray hairstreaks and
painted ladies bring large
parties and spend more time.
Of course, some visitors
are new and find us by
referral, I assume.
Right now, the coneflowers
are the accommodations of choice.
Soon, the sedum suites will open.
These shared spaces are popular,
but no one is turned away.

How deep is it? How wide?
Will they make it to the other side?
Despite their fears, they begin to paddle.
They know it is time for them to swim.

In the Rain

In the Rain

When you walk in the rain,
you get hit by the spray.
The mud flies then sticks.
But, if you keep walking,
the mud gets washed away.

This poetic form is a flamenca.

The next post will be Tuesday, July 16.
