Nature's Beauty All Around

Nature's Beauty All Around

A walk around the park
brightens my day.
Come along with me.
Dogs walk their owners,
extending leashes to the max.
Fallen feathers are often found.
Geese hunt for food on the grass.
Herons try their luck at fishing.
In the lake, grebes swim underwater.
Jagged rocks sit near the shore.
Keep an eye out for the red-winged blackbird.
Light creates sparkles on the lake.
Mallard ducks tip tail up.
Nature's beauty all around.
On a flower, sits a monarch butterfly.
Parents, human and animal, watch over children.
Quick, look at the chipmunk!
Reflections of sky and clouds float on the water.
Shadows sit on trees as well as the ground.
Turtles sun themselves on rocks
until they sense another being nearby.
Voices rise in greeting, anger and caution.
Winds whip up waves.
xoxo, I love this place.
Yet another walk is done, and I leave with
zero stress and zip in my step.

The form of this poem is the abecedarian.

Circle Back

Circle Back

The vulture flies in circles
high above the park.
Once, twice, thrice
then it breaks the pattern.
Makes a straight line
for the outskirts.

I feel relief until I
see a shadow
down the path.
The vulture didn't leave.
It circled back to
survey another section.

Once, twice, thrice
then the vulture
breaks the pattern.
The relief doesn't come.
 The shadow does.
