A Lesson in Patience
The heron stands still
minute after minute.
Every so often, it leans in
for a closer look
at the water.
The movement is
slow and deliberate
as is the return
to full height.
The wait continues
until the heron moves
to a new place.
It stands still
minute after minute.
I wish I had
the patience of a heron.

ready for takeoff.
