The Chase

The Chase

I am involved in a chase.

I don't consider it a race.

I  set my own pace.

It would be nice to make the capture.

But, the chase itself provides the rapture.

It Won't Be Long

It Won't Be Long

until the trees are bare.

The branches exposed.

Their curves and blemishes visible.

But, the leaves won't go

until they display

 their colorful changes.

The Split

The Split

isn't very wide.

Just enough to change

one unit into two.

They remain in

close proximity,

but can't come back together.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found

A plant, thought to have

died last summer,

sprouts up from the ground.

Soon, it begins to bloom.

The gardener celebrates its return

while dreading the impending heat wave.

Life Skills

Life Skills

Listen to those who know.

Ease into the first step.

Accept your failures.

Recognize your progress.

I Wait

I Wait

Thoughts overtake actions.

I contemplate.

What will be my fate?

I rate

the scenarios I create.

I state

my intention to initiate one.

Cling to the Flower

 Cling to the Flower

The raindrops cling

to the flower.

Wait for the sun

to come out.

Sit in the warmth

until they evaporate

instead of seeping

into the ground.

Natural Decorations

Natural Decorations

Everyday the sun

decorates the lake.

Pieces of sky,

a group of clouds,

a few trees turned upside down.

Its designs are hot.
