Sun and Snow
Sunlight touches snow, white.
Bright, bright, bright!
Sunlight warms snow.
Oh no, no, no!
Sunlight returns the next day.
Snow has gone away.
The geese honk as
they enter the park.
Drop into the lake.
Make a splash.
Slide a little bit
with wings open.
Then, swim into
the day's routine.
Gold is Gone
Took time to get here.
Had a short stay.
Let go and fluttered
to the ground.
Became the crunch
made by footsteps.
Stuck Together
Rock fell into the lake.
Its cracks didn't split.
Remnants of flowers appeared.
Centers were all that sat on the stems.
The two now floated in the
reflections of nearby trees.
Stuck together despite the fall.
Time to Stop
Put on the brakes.
You've earned the chance
to regain your strength.
When you are ready,
you will soar again.
Do what's best for you
until then.
Not So Much
Dark clouds move in.
Bring needed rain.
I welcome them.
Bring flood waters.
I fear them.
More isn't always better.
