Gardening

Gardening

I choose the plants

and where they will live.

I observe them as they

get taller and spread.

I see how buds become

flowers--pop open,

unfold or unroll.

I take in the colors

and the scents.

I worry that the

wind will toss them

around or the rain

 will beat them down.

I worry that the

temperature

is too hot

or too cold.

I know that

sometimes I

do things wrong,

but I try hard

to keep the plants

healthy and strong.
