Long Enough
How long has
the tree stood
in the woods?
Long enough to
thicken its trunk,
spread its branches,
increase its height.
Long enough to
be intruded upon
by other growth,
lose some limbs,
gain some scars.
Long enough to
stand where and
like it is
for another day.
