Full Bloom

Full Bloom

The wintry mixes will end.
The snow will melt.
Breath will be heard
but not seen.

The trees will fill with leaves.
The daffodils will open.
Spring will be in full bloom.
It can't happen too soon.

Melting Point

Walk onto the ice.
All appears smooth and solid.
See the sun sparkle.

The Last Bloom

The Last Bloom

A tiny burst of yellow
stands out against a
green background.
To look at the
lone bloom, one
might think it
flourishes on
a summer day.
Instead, it is
challenged by a
fall chill, on the brink
of being caught
in a hard freeze, looking
strong when it is
most vulnerable.

Handpicked

Handpicked

You opened
with good reason.
Secure in the
warmth of the season.
Then Nature,
with its fickle ways,
dialed back the temperature
to the point at which
you might freeze.
You were handpicked
and brought inside.
Your end
wouldn't come from
the shock of cold.
Instead, you would reside
in comfort
for at least
a few days longer.
