On the Water

On the Water

I float on the water.
The sun beats down.
This is my favorite
place because there's
light all around.

Dried Plants

Dried Plants

Why does the dragon fly
stop on the dried plant?
The bright color is gone.
All that was soft has
become brittle.

What does the dragon fly
see that I can't?
Perhaps, a time when
a stop here was sweeter.

Thoughtful

Thoughtful

I think too much.
I think too little.
I have yet to
think just enough.

An Early Fall

An Early Fall

The coneflower cradles the leaf.
The plant has broken the fall
and gives the leaf respite
until the force of the wind
takes it away.

Watch Gardens Grow

  Watch Gardens Grow

Watch gardens grow.
They will show how
to go ahead
though you dread storms.
Stand steady as the weather transforms.

This poem is a Burmese quintain called ya-du.

Take Me With You

Take Me With You

Won't you take me with you
as you fly from place to place?
I won't be any bother.
I need a change of pace.

You'll choose the direction,
when to stop and when to go.
I won't be any bother.
I need a change of pace.

I'm usually not like this,
but nothing's usual these days.
Won't you take me with you
as you fly from place to place?

Light Breaks Through

Light Breaks Through

Light breaks through
the darkness.
Arrives with a promptness.
The day begins anew.

I bid the sun adieu.
Hope night won't be endless.
Light breaks through
the darkness.

When I can't escape the blues
or I feel a little restless,
I wait in the stillness
and look for the first clue.
Light breaks through
the darkness.

This poem is a French form called rondel supreme.

Natural Art

Natural Art

Mother Nature paints streaks
as the storm peaks.

This is my attempt at a German form called Schuttelreim.
