Sparkles
One cloudy morning,
I was sad about
the prevailing dark.
When would the sun come out?
Then I went to the park.
As I walked beside the lake,
sparkles appeared on the water.
The sun shares its light
in different ways.

I am a poet and photographer who likes sports, jazz and art inspired by other art. I served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the early 1970's and was assigned to the Computer Sciences School in Quantico, VA. I have published a chapbook of grief poems, I Keep You with Me. The Light Returns
The Light Returns
The sun wasn't really gone,
but it kept its light hidden.
Let the ice take the stage.
Now, the light is back.
The ice begins to melt.
Geese reflect on
the newfound water.

Light Breaks Through
Light Breaks Through
Light breaks through
the darkness.
Arrives with a promptness.
The day begins anew.
I bid the sun adieu.
Hope night won't be endless.
Light breaks through
the darkness.
When I can't escape the blues
or I feel a little restless,
I wait in the stillness
and look for the first clue.
Light breaks through
the darkness.
This poem is a French form called rondel supreme.

Reflections on Reflections
Reflections on Reflections
I am drawn to the
reflections on the lake.
I see blue sky amid
tall tree trunks adorned
with fall colors.
Geese line up on a ledge
just above the water.
One goose moves and sends
its reflection scampering
up a watery wall, as though
it is rushing to receive a kiss.
