Winter Art

Winter Art

There are breaks in the frozen lake.

They create various shapes.

Some long lines that branch out.

Some pencil thin ones that are hard to see.

They reconfigure throughout the days

until they finally melt away.

The Light Returns

The Light Returns

The sun wasn't really gone,

but it kept its light hidden.

Let the ice take the stage.

Now, the light is back.

The ice begins to melt.

Geese reflect on

the newfound water.

Life's Lines May

Life's Lines May

tell a story.

be caused by worry.

be decorative in nature.

be a sign of wear.

make us wait.

not be crossed.

Different Turns

Different Turns

We make different turns.

Start out in other directions.

Continue going our own ways.

One day, we wind up

in the same place.

Impressions on a Snowy Day

Impressions on a Snowy Day

The walkers and runners still come out.

Some with dogs and some without.

Driveways display tire treads.

Hills are decorated by sleds.

Impressions on a snowy day

prove we can still make our way.

New Connections

 New Connections

Reflections bring on recollections.

Give me directions for

making corrections.

My selections may lead

to new connections.

Stuck Together

Stuck Together

Rock fell into the lake.

Its cracks didn't split.

Remnants of flowers appeared.

Centers were all that sat on the stems.

The two now floated in the

reflections of nearby trees.

Stuck together despite the fall.

Time to Stop

Time to Stop

Put on the brakes.

You've earned the chance

to regain your strength.

When you are ready,

you will soar again.

Do what's best for you

until then.

Not So Much

Not So Much

Dark clouds move in.

Bring needed rain.

I welcome them.

 Dark clouds move in.

Bring flood waters.

I fear them.

More isn't always better.

On Their Own

On Their Own

Out on their own.

How they had grown.

Were ready to roam

to places unknown.

Found a new home

in another time zone.

Left the old one on its own.

Golden

Golden

During fall,

the sun paints

with a different palette.

This day, it places

a golden reflection

in the lake.

The sight of it

is a treasure.

Behind a Curtain

Behind a Curtain

I stand behind a curtain.

Certain I am hidden.

But, the curtain is sheer.

So, everyone knows I'm here.

In Sync

In Sync

I watch them fly.

Maintain the same height.

Move wings up and down

at the same time.

Remain in sync

as long as I see them.

Loss Comes Early

Loss Comes Early

Loss comes early to me

My neighbors' leaves

are still green.

Mine have turned and gone.

All my blemishes are exposed.

I wish loss didn't come early to me,

but it is my nature.

This is a persona poem.

No Stopping

 No Stopping

This red doesn't stop.

It appears throughout

the tree from

bottom to top.

A signal that

the season of change

is upon us.

Fall Colors

Fall Colors

Fall colors fall as

reflections on the lake.

They appear and disappear

from day-to-day.

Fall colors fall as

the leaves let go.

Blanket the ground

then the wind comes along.

Fall colors fall until

they all are gone.

Dark Days

 Dark Days

Dark days display

different depictions.

Details disappear.

Despite dimness,

displays don't disappoint.

This poem is a tautogram.
