The green heron and the goose
dropped in separately.
They were after the same thing,
but shared the space peacefully.
Each needed only a portion
to satisfy its hunger.

Table for Two

I Stand Beside You
I stand beside you,
poised to listen to your soul.
Unburden yourself.
No words are too harsh
to end our conversation.
I listen freely.
No conversation
is too long to hold my ear.
I listen closely.
No sorrow too great
to cause me to turn away.
I listen always.
I stand beside you
firmly, without fail.

Share the Treasure
Pirates would
bury the treasure.
Draw maps with
landmarks and paces,
a large X
marking the place
to dig and reclaim
what they left.
How many of
the buriers made
it back to enjoy
what they took
so much time
to protect?
