Daydreams
I am a poet and photographer who likes sports, jazz and art inspired by other art. I served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the early 1970's and was assigned to the Computer Sciences School in Quantico, VA. I have published a chapbook of grief poems, I Keep You with Me. My work also has appeared in publications such as Thorny Locust Magazine, core. zine,The Enigmatist, Veterans' Voices and Kansas Time + Place An Anthology of Heartland Poetry. My visual art pieces combine poetry and photographs, and have been most recently displayed at InterUrban ArtHouse, Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, Buttonwood Art Space, and The Smalter Gallery.

The Artist Sees
the shapes of the leaves.
the patches of color.
the lines entwined.
the darkness of the bark.
the tilt of the trunk.
the painting in the trees.

Sundown
When sunset comes round,
the natural light turns itself down.
Bids us a colorful goodnight.
Glows like a dying ember
then is extinguished by
the limitations of our vision.

My Camera
My Camera
My camera is an
extension of me.
It lets me share
the things I see.
The drying bloom
hugs a bud.
Two trees form a
pair of parentheses.
Reflections in the water,
shadows on the ground.
The moon when it decides
to stay out until noon.
My camera helps me
show off my nature.
The prompt was to make an object the title of the poem.
