Loud and Clear

 Loud and Clear

I heard a bird call

loud and clear.

I was certain it

was nearby.

Searched a tree

up and down,

around and around.

I found the bird,

which was very small.

I shouldn't have been surprised.

The power of a voice

isn't based on size.

After the Concert

After the Concert

The music comes with me.
The voices still sing.
The rhythms run through me.
The words fill my mind.
Time passes by before I
can sleep after the concert.

The prompt for Day 6 of the PAD Challenge was a fill-in-the-blank--after _______.  I invite you to go to one of the challenge pages and browse. I think you will enjoy the variety of work that is inspired by a single prompt.

This poem was inspired by the same event as Humanitarians. Throughout the presentations and acceptance speeches, the ideas of advocacy, speaking out and finding your voice recurred.

Voices

Voices come in
different registers
different volumes
different temperments
different languages
different accents
different genders
different races
different ages
but they are all
made to speak.
