Rest Stop

Rest Stop

The butterfly stops-flowers attract visitors.
Rest is important-blossoms are comfortable.
Wings flap in rhythm-the petals wave in the wind.
The journey will continue-honey bees buzz as they land.

Wonderland

Wonderland

I used to dream
of wonderland.
It was always
far away.

Then, I stopped to
watch the sunrise,
and later, the sunset.
I noticed the bees
and the butterflies
sharing the flowers.
I found a heron in
the park and followed
as it took a walk.

I learned that wonder-
land isn't one place.
I create it with what
I take the time to see
in a given space.

May you enjoy the wonders of the holidays wherever you are and however you celebrate. Thank you for stopping by, This is my last post of 2019. The next post will be January 7, 2020.

Meeting

Meeting

We never know whom we will meet.
Who will sit in the empty seat.
Will we carry on a long talk?
Stay in step when we start to walk
or, be glad our time is complete?

This is a Spanish form called a quintella.

The Gatherer

The Gatherer

Collect the nectar at
each stop you make.
Let it show.
Contribute it to
benefit the whole.
Go out again
to gather than give
and see what you
help create.

The Bee and The Butterfly

The Bee and the Butterfly

The bee and the butterfly
sit atop a sedum.

The bee is:
always dressed
in gold and black,
known for its work ethic,
making noise,
moving in a manic state.

The butterfly:
comes in many colors,
symbolizes beauty and
dramatic change,
moves quietly, with
infinite grace.

When the two
meet on a flower,
they find a way
to share the space.

Do you like to look for interesting combinations in nature? Do you write about them?

First Shift

First Shift

The bees are
 attracted to
 the new blooms.
Two alight on
opposite sides,
face each other,
work their
own territory.
They labor
without a break
until they hear
the buzzing
that signals
the shift change.

Are the bees working in your garden? My sedum plant is drawing a crowd.
