November Left Me With

November Left Me With

fewer leaves in the trees.

temperatures that freeze.

the gratitude of Thanksgiving.

a variety of leftovers.

the end of some challenges.

the beginning of others.

31 days left in the year.

the question, "Where do I go from here?."

Time to Go

Time to Go

It's time for
me to go.
I know you think
it is too soon.
Won't it always
be for you?
I leave lessons
learned and love.
I also take
them with me.

Life and Death

Life and Death

There is a beginning,
a heartbeat that starts.

What comes next
is a mystery.
Music and light,
silence and darkness
repeat in different measures.

The beginning leads to the end.
We don't know where or when,
but it is the one certainty.

This came from another two-for prompt.

Beginnings

Beginnings

At the start,
a burst of
excitement,
an increase
in the beat
of the heart.
High hopes and
misgivings
as to what
will unfold.
Then it's shown.
The beauty
that comes from
the unknown.

This poem was written in response to the Wednesday prompt "just as something changes" on Robert Lee Brewer's Poetic Asides blog.
