Old and New

Old and New

Old and new sit
side by side.
Old represents
new's future.
New represents
old's past.
They continue to
share the present.

Down the Road

Down the Road

I don't know
what's down the road.
Can't see over the hill.
Does the road come
to an abrupt end or
extend for miles and miles?
Guess it's time for me to see.
I'd rather take the ride
than sit around and wonder.

Already Reached

Already Reached

The cloud spreads itself thin.
Stretches in all directions.
What do you reach for
when you've already
reached the sky?

What's Coming

What's Coming

I try to see
what's coming.
Look high.
Look low.
Still don't know.
Might as well
sit back until
it gets here.

The Best Reasons

The Best Reasons

When I think
about my past,
I shake my head
at how long it is.
More than time is gone.
When I think
about my future,
I realize how short
it will be, comparatively.
Much of what will
fill it is yet to exist.
Perhaps these are
the best reasons to
focus on the present.

No, Thank You

No, Thank You

 If I were offered
the power to
predict the future,
my answer would be,
"No, thank you."
I would miss the
breathtaking surprises.

Look to the Light

Look to the Light

When the light
seems blocked,
it finds a way
to come through.
Shows us
an opening and
gives us a glimpse
of what lies on
the other side
of the darkness.

On the Horizon

On the Horizon

There is something on the way.
What it is, I cannot say.

Nothing will keep it at bay.
It may even come today.

It could bring joy or dismay,
but I will not run away.

Escape

Escape

Find the stairway
that takes you
away.

The one that
spirals outside your
routine.

Lets you leave
the walls you built
behind.

Potential

Potential

I have not
fully come
to life, but
I have more
than a start.
Enough blooms
 to catch the
eye, but still
more to open.
Who knows?
They may be
the best of all.
