Lost in the Water

 Lost in the Water

I get lost in the water
without going in.
Am mesmerized by
the motion of its waves.
I remain still
though it rocks my soul.
Peacefulness rises.

Ride the Waves

Ride the Waves

They bring me in.
They take me out.
They lift me up.
They take me down.
They are gentle.
They are rough.
They challenge me to
stand up everyday.

A Light Touch

A Light Touch

Dark water
whipped up by
the wind
rocks all that
risks a ride
upon it today.
The sun scatters
bright spots
atop the waves.
Even a little light
clarifies the course.

Current Circumstances

Current Circumstances

A gust of wind
whips up the waves.
The goose doesn't panic
or fight against its
current circumstances.
It rocks in rhythm
with the water,
certain that calm will return
as soon as the wind's
strength is spent.

The Water Rocks Me

The Water Rocks Me

When it's rolling
in to shore,
the water rocks me.

When it forms waves
that curl and foam,
the water rocks me.

When it is still
a little choppy,
the water rocks me.

Even when it looks
as smooth as glass,
the water rocks me.

Choppy Water

Choppy Water

When the water is choppy,
I look for a sign of peace.
A glimpse of natural beauty
steadies me even though
the boat is still rocking.

Turn to the Water

Turn to the Water

I turn to the water.
Breathe in rhythm with the waves.
A stillness comes over me.
I could stand here all day.
I feel myself relax.
Everything will be OK.
When I turn to the water,
my worries wash away.

The Last Day of Vacation

The Last Day of Vacation

I take one more
stroll by the shore.
Breathe in sea air.
Watch the sun dance
on the water.
Let my eyes scan
the horizon.
Listen to waves
as they roll in.
The time has come
for me to turn
and walk away.
At that moment,
I am jealous
of those who are
able to stay.

The Lake

The Lake

The lake provides a peace I don't often find.
I fall into its rhythm without a thought.
The movement relaxes me and clears my mind.
It frees me from all of the worries I brought.
I watch the waves and the way they are aligned.
They roll in and bring me the answers I sought.

This poetic form is strambotto.

Move With The Water

Move With The Water

Move with the water.
Let it keep you afloat.
Don't struggle
against the current.
Drift a little.
Allow yourself to
be carried until
you are ready to set
your own course.

The Chop

The Chop

I ride into the chop.
Feel my stomach turn.
Despite my discomfort,
I can't abandon the water.
Have to stay afloat
until the calm returns.

Rest Now

Rest Now

Rest now,
for morning
comes soon.
The reassuring
rhythm of the waves
is your lullaby.
Drift, drift,
drift off.
Dreams roll in,
wash over you
like high tide
then recede.
When you awaken,
 sail into the new day.

Small Waves

Small Waves

Make small waves.
Soon, they will fill
the water, ready
to rock some boats.

Waves of Light

Waves of Light

Waves of light roll in.
I wonder how long they'll stay
and what they'll take away.

Rough Waters

Rough Waters

The water is
in motion.
It swirls around.
Makes waves that rock
everything that
tries to ride them.
There is no sign
it will calm down.
Can you handle
the turbulence?

Floating

Floating

Buoyant
Still yet moving
Relaxed, no fear of sinking
Mind at ease, not thinking
Relinquish the post of captain
Let changes in direction happen
under the command of the waves.
