Amelia Earhart

Adventure is worthwhile in itself.-Amelia Earhart

My adventure of writing poetry met up with Amelia Earhart's adventure of trying to circle the globe in late 2009. I had been writing regularly for only a few months when I went to see the movie, Amelia. I ended up writing two poems that were inspired by the movie.

July 2 will mark the 75th anniversary of the disappearance of Amelia Earhart. Another search for the remains of the airplane and other artifacts is scheduled to begin.  Will one of the greatest mysteries in American history finally be solved?

  1. Michelle, I love your poems, especially Crossing Oceans... so true. I’m really glad you linked so I could read them. What a terrific mystery the disappearance is. I remember here are there, on TV or in newspaper, someone going on about finding a bit of plane or some artifact and piecing things together, but I suppose no one really knows much.

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed the poems, Veronica. It will be interesting to see if the latest search comes up with anything definitive.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Go visit the Amelia Earhart home in Atchison. Watch the birds fly over the treetops that line the bank of the Missouri River and you may wonder if that wasn't part of her inspiration about human flight.

    1. I have been to the museum once, Peg. Unfortunately, it was raining very hard. Your comment makes me want to go back!
