Current Circumstances
A gust of wind
whips up the waves.
The goose doesn't panic
or fight against its
current circumstances.
It rocks in rhythm
with the water,
certain that calm will return
as soon as the wind's
strength is spent.

Even in winter,
I see a feather
on the ground.
The grass is brown.
The dirt is muddy.
The one left behind
rests comfortably
in its new space.
If it is hurt, the
wound doesn't show.
