Broken by the Storm
A tree is down.
Broken by the storm.
It withstood the wind before.
This time, the force was too strong.
Others stand near
the one that was lost.
Their branches still wave
and continue to provide shade.
But, another storm is in the forecast.

they still look the same.

The green leaves work quietly,

The Rock Stands
The rock stands
in dark and light,
when storms rage
or peace reigns.
The surface gets
scratched and
sometimes cracks.
Pieces crumble
and fall away.
And so, it changes
everyday, but still
the rock stands.

The answer
to the question,
"Who are we?"
floats like a
watery reflection.
Sometimes solid,
other times incomplete
or obscured
by the glare.
Always fragile,
it dissipates
with the slightest
movement of the sun.
