Happy Thanksgiving

I am grateful to wander in beautiful places close by and far away.
Spend time observing all that presents itself.
Capture a small part of what I see.
Put together a few words about each scene.

Thank you all for letting me share them with you.

Collaboration

Collaboration

The branches come
from all directions.
Reach out to

one another.
Bring together
the few leaves

they still bear.
Their collaboration
comes naturally.

Reflections on Reflections

Reflections on Reflections

I am drawn to the
reflections on the lake.
I see blue sky amid
tall tree trunks adorned
with fall colors.

Geese line up on a ledge
just above the water.
One goose moves and sends
its reflection scampering
up a watery wall, as though
it is rushing to receive a kiss.

Let the Memories Fall Away

Let the Memories Fall Away

I try to
let the memories
fall away.
They are old
and I want them
to wither.

I know
they will always
be there.
They crackle
when I stumble
onto them.

I focus on
the growth that
has taken place
around them instead
of getting caught up
in the noise.

Which Way Shall I Go?

Which Way Shall I go?

Which way shall I go?
I don't know. I don't know.

Some routes show their charm.
Could they lead to harm, lead to harm?

Some appear to be quite dense.
Would the trip be too intense, too intense?

Some are pointed out.
I have doubts. I have doubts.

Which path shall I take?
The one I'll make. The one I'll make.

Winter Drops In Early

Winter Drops In Early

Winter drops in early,
only stays a couple of days.

I put on my heaviest jacket
and a pair of boots.
.
My foot slips ever so slightly
when I step outside.

I have to brush snow off
the car before I start to drive.
.
The car slides a little bit
when I make a turn.

Winter drops in early
to remind us how it works.

The Opposite Shore

The Opposite Shore

The opposite shore
appears very far away.
Rest is within reach.

Planters

Planters

I am grateful to those
who sow the seeds.
The planters of
knowledge, beauty,
compassion and love.
They plant whether
the soil appears
fertile or not.

Their reward comes from
the act, not the results.
