Reunion

Reunion

After hanging out together
most of the year,
the cones went out
on their own.
Plop, plop--they dropped.
Hit the ground, rolled around.
Pushed by the wind.
Kicked by a foot.
Some crushed by the same.
But, one small group
was gathered up.
Placed side-by-side.
Reunited after the fall.

Reflections on Reflections

Reflections on Reflections

I am drawn to the
reflections on the lake.
I see blue sky amid
tall tree trunks adorned
with fall colors.

Geese line up on a ledge
just above the water.
One goose moves and sends
its reflection scampering
up a watery wall, as though
it is rushing to receive a kiss.

Petals

Petals

Did you see
which one
opened first?

Are they all
colored exactly
the same?

Aren't some shorter
and some wider?

How many points
does each have
on its end?

Can you guess
which one will be
the last to fall
to earth?
