The Break

The Break

Pods provide protection.

Seeds settle inside.

The break takes place.

Wind whisks seeds away.

Pods persevere.

A Great Planter

A Great Planter

The wind is a great planter.

Its nursery is unlimited.

Tree leaves let me know

when a shipment has been delivered.

How many flowers will this batch yield?

Have they landed in a garden bed,

or will I have to move them

out of the grass?

Sit with Nature

Sit with Nature

I pick my spot.

Let the sun warm me.

Take note of the shadows.

Feel the wind blow.

Watch the waves in the water.

I never pass up a chance

to sit with nature.

Storm Damage

Storm Damage

They would have fallen anyway.

But, I might have had them

a few more days.

Instead, the wind and rain came through.

Cut short our time together.

There was nothing I could do.

Detached

 Detached

Up, down, up. down

The feather stands and

falls with the

strength of the wind.

As part of a wing,

the feather helped

a body soar.

Detached and alone,

it soars no more.

Dancers in the Lake

Dancers in the Lake

are put there by the sun.

Remain still until

the wind makes waves.

Then, tree trunks wiggle.

Turn into squiggles.

Branches follow suit.

The dance continues

until the sun

makes a move.

Broken by the Storm

Broken by the Storm

A tree is down.
Broken by the storm.
It withstood the wind before.
This time, the force was too strong.

Others stand near
the one that was lost.
Their branches still wave
and continue to provide shade.

But, another storm is in the forecast.

Survivors

Survivors

The rain was hard.
The wind was strong.
We were beaten down.
Some bent a little.
Others hit the ground.
When the storm was over,
we were still around.

Stirred Up

Stirred Up

The wind stirs up
the power of the water.
Makes waves rise to new heights.
Gives slaps more force than
they have on their own.

Downhill

Downhill

The wind gust
picks up the leaves.
They go downhill.
It won't be a breeze, but,
with a change of direction,
they will get back up.

A Light Touch

A Light Touch

Dark water
whipped up by
the wind
rocks all that
risks a ride
upon it today.
The sun scatters
bright spots
atop the waves.
Even a little light
clarifies the course.

I'm Stuck

I'm Stuck

I'm stuck!
The wind dropped me off
and hasn't come back
to pick me up.
So, here I'll sit
until I figure out
how to get a lift.

Grow in the Stillness

Grow in the Stillness

Sometimes, I don't go far.
The wind behind me dies down.
I don't worry.
I will grow in the stillness.

Grounded

Grounded

Fallen feather
tangled in grass.
Wind gust
gives it a lift.
Not enough
to let it fly.

Current Circumstances

Current Circumstances

A gust of wind
whips up the waves.
The goose doesn't panic
or fight against its
current circumstances.
It rocks in rhythm
with the water,
certain that calm will return
as soon as the wind's
strength is spent.

Climb

Climb

Set your sights high
and get on board.
There will be turbulent days
so enjoy the smooth rides.
Headwinds will impede your progress,
but tailwinds will help you make up time.
You will meet others with similar flight plans.
Find ways to help each other climb.

Waiting for the Wind

Waiting for the Wind

I'm waiting for
the wind to change.
Go from cold to warm,
strong to gentle.
Hold things up instead
of bring them down.
Give me some assistance
instead of put up resistance
as I move through the day.

Push Forward

Push Forward

The wind
pushes me from behind.
I stumble, step, step, step
then regain my bal-
ance and move forward
from there.
