Seeds Scatter

Seeds Scatter

One falls near the plant.

I hope it grows there.

Others ride the wind out of the yard.

Their destination is unknown.

Some hold on to the only home they've had.

The next gust makes them scatter.

A Great Planter

A Great Planter

The wind is a great planter.

Its nursery is unlimited.

Tree leaves let me know

when a shipment has been delivered.

How many flowers will this batch yield?

Have they landed in a garden bed,

or will I have to move them

out of the grass?

Close to Me

Close to Me

I saw the flower from afar, but since then have kept it close to me.

A Beautiful Sight

A Beautiful Sight

The time has come

to show your light.

Let your yellow petals

brighten up the night.

What a beautiful sight.

Your flower closes.

Petals crinkle, turn orange.

You sit nearby

when the next light

brightens up the night.

What a beautiful sight.

Stuck Together

Stuck Together

Rock fell into the lake.

Its cracks didn't split.

Remnants of flowers appeared.

Centers were all that sat on the stems.

The two now floated in the

reflections of nearby trees.

Stuck together despite the fall.

Cling to the Flower

 Cling to the Flower

The raindrops cling

to the flower.

Wait for the sun

to come out.

Sit in the warmth

until they evaporate

instead of seeping

into the ground.

The Sedum

The Sedum

The sedum sits

in the garden.

It is bright green

and stands up straight.

New buds grow.

Other plants look beat,

but the sedum doesn't overheat.

Small Gifts

Small Gifts

Small gifts appear

throughout the day.

A butterfly stops by.

A bird breaks into song.

A new flower blooms.

Small gifts bring immense joy.

Life Cycle

Life Cycle

From bud to bloom

to shriveled petals,

the cycle ends too soon.

It reminds me I should

bask in the sun

as often as I can.

Garden Show

Garden Show

I have a trio in my garden.

The members don't sing,

but they make me take note

of their bright color.

When they team up with the wind,

they swing to and fro and

may even take a bow.

Spring Returns

Spring Returns

I can't wait

until spring returns.

The trees fill up.

The flowers come out.

Geese and ducks

and all kinds of things

bring us new life in spring.

On Common Ground

On Common Ground

We live in
the same place.
Respect each
other's space.
Greet one another
with a wave.
We will never
be identical, but
we can grow
on common ground.

Gifts in the Garden

Gifts in the Garden

Flowers that grow
and colors they display.

Pollinators that fly in
and their valuable  work.

Birds of different feathers
and the songs they sing.

Gifts in the garden
I may receive any day.

Create Your Own Memories

Create Your Own Memories

I share a flower with you.
One I care for; one I spend time with.
I have watched it grow and bloom.
Display its colors then let them go.
Stand in the sunlight and fall in a storm.
I share a flower and invite you
to create your own memories.

Gifts of Nature

An eagle sitting in a tree

A butterfly and a flower

Fall colors in the trees and reflected on the lake

These are a few of the gifts nature gave to me this year. As always, the time you spend on the blog is a great gift. Thank you. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. The next post will be January 4, 2022.

Rest Stop

Rest Stop

The butterfly stops-flowers attract visitors.
Rest is important-blossoms are comfortable.
Wings flap in rhythm-the petals wave in the wind.
The journey will continue-honey bees buzz as they land.
