Dancers in the Lake

Dancers in the Lake

are put there by the sun.

Remain still until

the wind makes waves.

Then, tree trunks wiggle.

Turn into squiggles.

Branches follow suit.

The dance continues

until the sun

makes a move.

Dance Haiku

Trees dance in the storm.
With the wind as bandleader,
the rhythm comes in gusts.

In recognition of International Haiku Poetry Day yesterday, I wrote a haiku for the prompt--dance.

Dance

Dance

Petals uncurl
Stretch to their
longest length
Reach their
widest width
Turn toward
the sun
Bend in
the rain
Lift with
the wind
Dance to
celebrate
their openness

Which of your flowers are celebrating their openness?
