Dear 2021

Dear 2021

I am wary.
I can't celebrate
you as a whole.
Look too far
down the road.

The old year threw
a sucker punch that
landed everywhere,
put us on the ropes,
took our breath away.

So, I need to
celebrate day-by-day
with a smile in
the morning and a
thank you at night.

Then, on your
Dec. 31st, I'll look
back on
all the days.
I hope I will
be
sad to see you go.

Happy New Year! Thank you for reading poetry for another year.

Santas on the Run

Santas on the Run

The street is
filled with Santas
on the run.
The only
similarities
among them are
red caps and coats.
They are
tall and short,
slight and stocky.
They hit their
own stride, set
their own pace.
Visions of the
finish line dance
in their heads.
The reindeer
sit back and smile.

This will be my last post of 2015. I wish you all Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. I'll see you back here Jan. 5, 2016.

Take a Look Back

Take a Look Back

Look back through
the lenses of
time and space
and a different place.
Take what will
help you in
the future and
let everything
else go.
Move forward
using what
you now know.

Happy New Year!
