Become One
The sky lays down on the lake.
It doesn't make a splash.
The action seems like happenstance,
but it is guided by the sun.
The area it covers turns
bright blue with patches of white.
Branches poke through the clouds.
Ducks and geese swim on the fluff.
The surrounding water sparkles.
This is the beauty that is created
when two elements we thought
could never come together
become one.

I served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the early 1970's and was assigned to the Computer Sciences School in Quantico, VA. I have published a chapbook of grief poems, I Keep You with Me.
