Become One

Become One

The sky lays down on the lake.
It doesn't make a splash.
The action seems like happenstance,
but it is guided by the sun.

The area it covers turns
bright blue with patches of white.
Branches poke through the clouds.
Ducks and geese swim on the fluff.
The surrounding water sparkles.

This is the beauty that is created
when two elements we thought
could never come together
become one.

Harmonizing

Writing is full of surprises. I've been surprised by ideas, memories and the direction pieces took while I was writing them. Yesterday, I was surprised by a response that was elicited by one of my poems. I'm going to let my friend and fellow writer, Letty Stapp Watt, tell the story:

What kinds of surprises have you received while writing or in response to your work?
