Ups and Downs
Ups and downs
come and go.
Raise our spirits.
Bring us woe.
We never know
which ones a
day will hold.

Carried Away
I stand in the shadows.
Look into space.
My mind carries me away
though I stay in the same place.
New Life
In the dead of winter,
the cold has a bite.
The clouds are gray.
The trees are bare.
The animals take flight.
As my spirits sink,
I come upon a pod
still full of seeds.
It holds on
despite the elements.
Mother Nature's reminder
that there is new life.
Stopping By
Thank you for stopping by.
Your appearance makes me smile.
So do the memories you bring.
I know you cannot stay,
but will return sometime.
I'll be there to say,
"Thank you for stopping by."
Write On
Relax
Don't try too hard.
Let the words float to you,
then choose the ones you want to use.
Create!
This poem is a cinquain.
The Lakeness Monster
I circled the lake as I often do.
Hadn't seen anything new.
As I came around a bend,
I saw the Lakeness Monster
overhanging the lake's end.
It had fallen from its family tree.
Remained as close to shore
as it could be.
I walked right by, unafraid.
I'll tell you why.
When the Lakeness snaps,
it loses part of itself.
It doesn't hurt anything else.
A Time of Reflection
I see trees turned upside down.
Their branches reach the
clouds that sit below them.
The sun, which shines bright,
creates this picture in a lake.
I never know what I will see
during a time of reflection.
