Small changes build excitement.
The joy is hard to contain.
I track the time until opening days arrive.

I am a poet and photographer who likes sports, jazz and art inspired by other art. I served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the early 1970's and was assigned to the Computer Sciences School in Quantico, VA. I have published a chapbook of grief poems, I Keep You with Me. Don't Miss Out
Streaks of sky blue
and cloud white
float in the lake.
They look like
spilled paint that
changes shape with
the rhythm of the water.
A bird, engrossed in
its hunt for food,
doesn't notice the spectacle.

I Take My Time
I take my time.
I make my way.
Stop atop a
sun-warmed rock.
I stay in touch
with what's around.
Birds, fish,
humans, hounds
threat is near,
I hop in the water
and steer clear.

Gray Reflections
No fluffy white clouds.
No dazzling blue sky.
The reflections are gray.

Circle Back
The vulture flies in circles
high above the park.
Once, twice, thrice
then it breaks the pattern.
Makes a straight line
for the outskirts.
I feel relief until I
see a shadow
down the path.
The vulture didn't leave.
It circled back to
survey another section.
Once, twice, thrice
then the vulture
breaks the pattern.
The relief doesn't come.
The shadow does.
