What Are You Looking For?
Beauty Lands
Beauty lands in front of me,
and stops me in my tracks.
It comes to me on its own.
I don't have to ask.
I stand and watch it
sit, flit, fly away.
I am grateful anytime
beauty comes my way.
Throw Me a Curve
This poem is a mashnavi (or mathnawi).
Different Directions
This poem is a bob and wheel.
Which Way Is Up?
It is hard to know which way is up.
There is so much confusion.
Many trying to create illusions.
Even if you have your eye on the sky,
you may come to the wrong conclusion.
I take a walk
in the park.
Spend time with
some winged things.
See them fly,
walk and swim.
Watch the fish
make a splash.
Spot dragon flies
that are
lightning fast.
Reflect on all
in this space.
It does my
heart good.
Two Ducks
Things aren't just ducky for two ducks.
They often swim together here.
Now, as they get closer to shore,
they split apart, friendship in flux.
This poem is a Barzeletta, an Italian form with different interpretations.
Twists and turns pop up.
They curve and cross
and even intertwine.
They will not go away.
So, we face them and
get through the best we can.
The Fall Comes
The fall comes.
Green leaves
take on new colors
as though they are
small canvases
whose painters work
in red, orange and yellow.
The landscape glows
until the fall comes.
