Give Yourself A Lift
Others may give you a hand.
But, you have to understand
that you don't have to rely on them.
Spread your wings then give yourself a lift.
Give Yourself A Lift
Others may give you a hand.
But, you have to understand
that you don't have to rely on them.
Spread your wings then give yourself a lift.
Out of Bounds
Sometimes I miss the basket.
Don't even hit the rim.
But a teammate grabs
Other times, the ball gets away.
We send it out of bounds.
The other team gets a chance
to make a play.
Fall Through the Cracks
Remain vigilant!
These stealth openings
may surprise you
in places like sidewalks,
driveways and streets.
Watch your step.
Don't get careless because
you think you are too big
to fall through the cracks.
That may be true, but
don't forget that they
can make you take
an unplanned trip.
The form of this poem is called: anapodoton.
Something New
I love to find something new.
An animal that might be
stopping by for a day or two.
A butterfly with a different color scheme.
A bird that sings a new tune.
For me, finding something new
is a walk in the park.
The Next Step
I need time to think.
Don't want to make
this decision in a blink.
A plan is a must.
The next step
can't be rushed.
There is always
another tree to climb.
One that is taller,
a larger task.
By all means,
accept the challenge.
But first, enjoy the
view from the one
No Limits
Don't under estimate
what you can do.
Don't listen to
the voices that say,
"No, not you."
Instead, ask the question,
"Why not me?"
All you need to do is try.
That is the key.
Don't limit yourself.
You may be surprised
by the results you see.
The Conscientious Duck
goes out to look for lunch.
She waddles along the shoreline
Takes her time.
Examines whatever catches her eye.
Makes her selections with care.
This process has served her well.
Soon, she will pass it on
to the next generation.
