Happy Thanksgiving

I'm grateful for the new.

I'm grateful for the longtime, too.

I'm grateful for you.

Glorious Words

Glorious Words

They are all made of letters,
but each one is different.
They vary in size and sound.
Come from many cultures.
We use them routinely,
sometimes without thinking
about the power they have.

This is another poem from the PAD Chapbook Challenge. The prompt was glorious.

The Fallout

The Fallout

I sit peacefully.
I hear a noise.
It seems far away.
I think I am safe,
but, in no time,
I feel the fallout.

Stand Sentinel

Stand Sentinel

I must stand sentinel
over that which I value.
The land, the sea, the
air I breathe.
The occupants of
all these places,
including me.
What is in my
head and heart.
What I listen to
and what I say.
All that may be
taken away if
I don't stand sentinel.

Room for Me

Room for Me

Is there room for me
in the place I seek?
Will those I meet
welcome me?
Will we form
a community?
Will I get to
stop and see?

At Home with the Sun

At Home with the Sun

I walk to the end of the pier
to await the sun.
Those who make their living here
have begun to work.
They ready the boats
to seek  the day's catch.
A gull crowds me as it flies by,
as if to say," You don't belong here."
I look across the water
and see a glow on the horizon.
As the sky turns gold,
I feel right at home.

The prompt  for Day 5 of the November PAD Chapbook Challenge is private.

Nature Lover

Nature Lover

When I am
starved for peace,
I take in nature.
Colors fill my eyes.
Sounds are an
appetizer before
creatures appear
in front of me.
I digest every scene,
and wander until
my legs let me know
they have had enough.

This poem was inspired by the Wednesday prompt "nourishment" at Poetic Asides. Today is the start of the November PAD Chapbook Challenge, also at Poetic Asides.
