Let go and fluttered
to the ground.
Became the crunch
made by footsteps.

Gold is Gone
I am a poet and photographer who likes sports, jazz and art inspired by other art. I served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the early 1970's and was assigned to the Computer Sciences School in Quantico, VA. I have published a chapbook of grief poems, I Keep You with Me. My work also has appeared in publications such as Thorny Locust Magazine, core. zine,The Enigmatist, Veterans' Voices and Kansas Time + Place An Anthology of Heartland Poetry. Water Under the Bridge
Water Under the Bridge
The water is still
under the bridge.
Sometimes, it sits
in shadows.
Other times, it sparkles
in the sun.
As long as the bridge
is in good repair,
I can cross without
fear of falling in.

A Graceful Exit
A Graceful Exit
The duck swam
in the pond
like a mini-boat
leaving it's wake
behind it.
It sometimes joined
the others, but
more often, traveled
on its own.
When it neared the shore
the duck spread its wings
and propelled itself
onto the stone.
The time had come
to make a graceful exit.

Downed
The trees have fallen.
What brought them down?
Was it sickness, people, wind?
Even if we knew, we couldn't
stand them up again.
The best we can do
is let them rest.

Fire in the Trees
Fire in the Trees
Fall sets the
trees on fire.
Sparks of red,
yellow and orange
spring up and spread
through the leaves
until the branches
are ablaze.
Time is the
extinguisher,
the signal to let go.
