A hawk tried to grab a duck
from the water, but other ducks
launched a counterattack.
The hawk escaped to
the shelter of a tree.
Bested this time, the hawk rested.
Still hungry, it will hunt again soon.

Snowflakes in Trees
Snowflakes in Trees
Like raindrops on leaves,
snowflakes settle on tree branches.
They form white accent lines
against the dark bark.
Some get lost in the background of clouds,
as though they had never fallen.
