Keep Going
When you are in too deep,
do what you can to stay afloat.
Your next steps may be slippery,
so don't lose your footing.
Keep going until you
reach solid ground.

The Best Reasons
When I think
about my past,
I shake my head
at how long it is.
More than time is gone.
When I think
about my future,
I realize how short
it will be, comparatively.
Much of what will
fill it is yet to exist.
Perhaps these are
the best reasons to
focus on the present.

Put the Pieces Together
Reflect on the
characteristics of each one.
Group some together,
understanding that they
may connect with others, too.
When they fit, celebrate!
If they don't,
keep trying until you
see the complete
picture.

Climb
Set your sights high
and get on board.
There will be turbulent days
so enjoy the smooth rides.
Headwinds will impede your progress,
but tailwinds will help you make up time.
You will meet others with similar flight plans.
Find ways to help each other climb.

A Changing Canvas
The lake is a canvas
that changes form.
During most seasons,
it provides water
so the sun and trees
may collaborate to
create colorful reflections.
But, in winter, the liquid
turns to ice and the same
partnership yields
monochromatic shadows.
The backgrounds change,
but the beauty remains.

The Seeds We Sow
The seeds we sow
grow within our gardens.
We tend to the plants.
Cut them back, limit
the space they occupy.
When they reproduce,
the seeds scatter,
blown by the wind.
We don't know
where they will land.
Still, they grow,
no longer within our control.

Fine Lines
The ice is filled
with fine lines.
They appear when
the temperature rises.
They create a pattern
that catches the eye.
As their spread continues,
the whole area
is compromised.

Come Together
The lake froze.
It thaws as the
temperature rises.
Ice and water
share the space.
They come together,
not for all time; but,
at least, for sometime.
